The HP LaserJet 5000 Printer – Unparalleled Quality, Reliability, And Compatibility

The HP LaserJet 5000 printer is a business printer that uses black and white LaserJet 5000 Toner. It is network capable and has standard wireless printing. This makes it convenient for placement in the office and is compatible with Windows and Macintosh due to the Apple LaserWriter drive.

When ready to print, it takes 12.2 seconds to start. It has high quality output with 1200 x 1200 dpi printing. With a printing speed of 16 pages per minute, it is just right for a small business. The standard toner cartridge has a 10,000 page capacity. The printer will print up to 65,000 pages per month which is helpful during those high promotional times of year.

This printer comes with a standard paper tray that holds 250 sheets. The multipurpose tray will hold 100 sheets for a total capacity of 350 sheets of paper. The output trays have a 250 page capacity bin and a 50 page face up bin. That provides a total output capacity of 300 pages. It also has a sensor to stop printing when the output bin is full.

There is an optional duplex tray available. For an office that does a lot of two sided printing, this can be a real time saver. If paper is being refilled frequently, there are two other paper trays available. One will hold 250 sheets and the other holds 500 sheets. The maximum number of trays that it can hold is four. With a 500 sheet bin, the total output capacity without adding more paper is 850 sheets.

It can print paper from 3 x 5 inches up to 11 x 17 inches. The paper itself can be up to a 53 pound weight. It works well for daily, general office printing and the larger promotional jobs. The higher weight will only work in the straight through tray and envelopes are also printed with this tray. The printer is capable of printing labels, business cards and transparencies also.

The standard memory is 4MB of RAM but can be expanded to 164 MB. Three additional DIMM slots are available for memory expansion. The memory comes in 4, 6, 8, 16, and 32 MB. The processor is a 100 MHz RISC microprocessor. The expanded memory and processor allows for faster printing on a network. The enhanced I/O card on the HP Jetdirect 600n allows for speedy network printing.

Flash memory DIMM is also available in 2 and 4 MB increments. These can store downloaded information on the printer permanently and will retain the loaded information even when the printer is off. There are both serial and parallel ports. The parallel is an IEEE1284 and the serial is a 232C and the printer weighs a sturdy 46 pounds. Its dimensions are 19.1 inches wide, 12.8 inches high and 19 inches deep and can conveniently sit on a desktop if there is adequate space.

The HP LaserJet 5000 printer will do monochrome printing in house, including company business cards and brochures. This can mean quite a large savings on HP Laser Toner when it is not necessary to send out to get most print jobs done. It is just right for a small business or a small group within a business. It has enough memory expansion capability to make it a fast workgroup printer.
