Oki C5100 And Its Various Features

by on September 21, 2007

This laser printer, the Okidata C5100, is a very nice printer for what you pay for it. The only drawback to it is that the printer is somewhat big, and if you decide to purchase it, it will take up a good chunk of your desk area. If you don’t care about how big your printer is, however, then you will really like this model.

The Okidata C5100 printer is available with a ton of features. It can print both in color and in black and white very fast. Its single-pass engine design can print over twenty black and white and over twelve color pages in just one minute. This feature makes it one of the quickest printers available in this price range. It also has a 250-sheet feeder. It also contains a network ready 10/100 Ethernet port and USB 2.0 connectivity option.

The printer has four seperate toner cartridges, one black, one magenta, one cyan, and one yellow. It’s a good answer, in case you run out of – let’s say – cyan, you have no need to change the full color toner, but you can simply replace cyan. But the Okidata toner prints less pages than a standard toner, and a full replacement set costs $150, more or less in case of a generic brand toner.

The solid ink made by the specific brand have noticeably higher costs. Some websites had the pack of four toners priced at four hundred dollars! I would suggest the generic branded toners because they perform the same job at a lower price.

The same company also makes Okidata 5300. The speed of its microprocessor is twice that of Okidata C5100 and the RAM is also twice. Despite these features both have identical print speeds. Okidata 5300’s ink can print twelve color pages per minute and twenty black and white pages per minute.

Hopefully, this information about color laser printers has been helpful in explaining to you the different features that these two machines have and the price of the ink toners that people factor in when purchasing a new printer. The price of ink is always of big importance, so make sure you take into consideration the price of ink along with the price of the printer.

Oki c5100 can process 12 color pages and 20 black and white pages per minute and has new single pass design. It has 250-sheet feeder, 10/100 Ethernet port, USB 2.0 connectivity, and four toners – black, magenta, cyan, and yellow. The Oki toner yields fewer pages than a typical toner. The Okidata 5300 printer made by the same brand has twice the RAM as its predecessor, and double processing speed, but same printing rate. Both these color printers are good buys though its advisable to take the time to research and compare ink costs along with printer costs.
