The ML1500 laser printer from Samsung was designed as a monochrome laser printer for the home office. This small laser printer, which weighs only 10 pounds, is one of the smallest laser printers available on the market today. Lack of size does have one drawback. The ML 1500 will only print at a 12 page per minute output. A 250 sheet paper tray for letter sized paper provides a plentiful supply of stock for printing.
The ML1500 is provided with both USB and parallel ports for connection to a computer. While network connectivity is not built in, a print server could be attached to allow for network usage. The ML1510 is compatible with Windows and Linux operating systems only. Printer setup is both simple and intuitive when utilizing the software provided with the printer.
The 250 sheet paper tray will provide more than enough stock for any large printing job. The output tray will hold 50 sheets. The 12 page per minute output is completed at 600 X 600 DPI and produces a most satisfying product. Text is legible from the smallest text to the largest text will little or no “stair stepping” visible on the large text.
Laser printers are generally considered to be outside of the budget for the home office, however the ML1500 with its small size also comes with a small price tag. This small price tag allows the home office owner to purchase a laser printer without breaking the office budget. This allows the home office the same economies for printing as large offices have.
Finding a toner cartridge is never a problem for the ML1500 owner. Samsung has designed a “one size fits all” toner cartridge for its 1500 and 1700 series laser printers. The printers are shipped with a 1000 sheet toner cartridge; however, larger toner cartridges are available when the starter cartridge is exhausted.
When one thinks of laser printers, the common thought is a large, printer that takes up a lot of space in the office. The ML1500, with its small size, takes up about the same space as a cartridge printer. This small size also insures that the printer is simple to operate. All of the printer functions are controlled through the PC and with this in mind, there are no control buttons on the printer itself. The ML1500, software controlled allows the owner to not have to reach across the desk to activate buttons on the printer.
The 600 X 600 dpi resolution of the printer provides a more than adequate resolution for almost all print jobs in the home office. While other laser printers offer more resolution, nearly all monochrome print jobs are done at the 600 X 600 dpi that the ML1500 provides. This adequate resolution when combined with a modest price makes the ML1500 ideal for the home office or college student.
Small size and low price both for the printer and the replacement cartridges provide an economical and reliable printer for the home office or small office that doesn’t need a networkable printer. The universality of the Samsung ML 1500 Toner insures that a replacement cartridge is always available from the local supplier. If a laser printer is what is desired for the home office or the college student that doesn’t have much room on the desk, then the Samsung ML1500 is the perfect printer.
