If you need an inexpensive personal laser printer with has a nice sharing option built into it then the Brother HL 2070N printer is the perfect choice. It can either be connected to your existing home network or directly to a computer. The printer prints excellent text quality that is not only crisp but also well defined.
Setting up the printer is very easy and weighing in at just 14.3 pounds it is also easy to handle. The built-in automated network setup helps you get up and running in no time. If you look closely at the Brother HL-2070 you will notice that it is actually a variation of the HL 2040. The same print engine is here which has a 250 sheet capacity. Like the HL 2040 it also has the convenience of the one sheet manual feed.
We would like to add that this printer is not the HL 2040 with just a network option added because as a matter of fact it has more memory. The print job is also processed at the printer rather than your computer working on the print job.
The HL 2070 Toner is quite fast and turned out a decent page per minute. Since laser printers are all about speed and quality text this one surely does the job it is supposed to. Photo printing on this printer is however slower than other printers tested and at high resolution it slows down significantly. This printer is not a very good graphics printer and shouldn’t be used to print high resolution graphic images. There are problems with the printer’s ability with dithering and posterization. Text on the other hand is remarkable and very clear at four points.
This printer seems to also have an awful paper handling bug because it manages to curl the pages slightly. This however has been fixed to some extend on future models. If you are a person that requires a good text printer then this printer is surely worth considering. However hold off the decision if you want to print high resolution graphics.
At the price level this printer is set it does a pretty good job at doing what laser printers are expected to do i.e. print text. You can still use it to print graphics but don’t expect any remarkable results. What it can do is print fine monochrome graphics which most text documents would include.
Brother HL 2070N Toner has a good capacity and can give you long life for a considerable period of time. Unlike other laser printers available you don’t need to constantly have it replaced.
