The Samsung ML 1410 printer is a special edition of the Samsung ML 1510 printer. They share the same electronics and use the same drivers and toner cartridges. This model printer is a personal monochrome laser printer, considered very basic, that does not print colors. It is suitable for printing text documents that do not have color images or graphics. The ML 1410 is discontinued but you can still find used models for sale at very cheap prices. For an entry level basic printer it is a good deal and the Samsung ML 1410 toner performs as if this was a much higher end model. It is a small, light weight printer weighing only 15.5 pounds, with dimensions of 13.7″ x 14″ x 7.6″.

The print quality of text is very clear and crisp with no jagged edges or defects. Grayscale images sometimes have some slight banding present, especially with PDF documents. This model prints up to 12 pages per minute, however, there is a slow warm up period that lasts up to one minute. There is a maximum resolution of 600 dpi x 600 dpi. It has a monthly duty cycle of 10,000.

This Samsung model will print all well-known types of media, such as plain paper, cards, labels, envelopes and transparencies. It will print all the standard sizes including letter, legal, and folio. Total media capacity is 250 sheets. It has one auto load paper feeder.

The Samsung ML 1410 is very easy to operate. It has only one button that turns the printer’s power supply on and off. There are 2 LED lights. One indicates errors and the other is for toner status. The basic functions are done from the computer. Installation is extremely simple with one installation disc. However, the printer has no plug and play function. This probably accounts for the confusion surrounding driver compatibility with the ML 1410.

This device will run on Windows, Apple Mac and Linux operating systems. This gives it a wide appeal. It connects to a computer via a USB cable. There are some reports of compatibility issues with Linux. Most of these reports stem from confusion regarding the correct driver to use. The lack of plug and play with this printer and the confusion surrounding it probably explains this confusion.

Initially, toner cartridge replacements for the ML 1410 were quite expensive at $83.00 for a cartridge with a 300 page capacity. The prices have come down significantly. Despite the fact that this particular model is discontinued, toner cartridges can be found on the internet for between $30 to $45.

Feedback from owners of this Samsung printer has been generally favorable. Since this printer is extremely low priced, customer expectations are low. Most problems have concerned confusion concerning what driver to use. Many do not realize that the ML 1410 is essentially the same as the ML 1510. There is good support for this printer on the Internet with manuals and documentation in PDF format readily available for download.

The Samsung ML 1410 printer is a good deal for those who need a black and white laser printer for producing simple text documents. It is definitely nothing fancy. It is not appropriate for advanced or complex high volume print operations. For an easy to use, low maintenance personal laser printer at a very low price, however, it cannot be beat.

The Samsung ML 1410 toner ensures your documents still achieve the high quality you need, a feature that seems to be present with all Samsung toner.  Replacement toner found online will please the most budget conscious user.
